Topic: mind blown: why i am always happy for awesome coincidences

aka i had an awesome weekend.

ok so flash back like 5 years ago. 56 calumet street, Boston, MA. We used to throw all kinds of parties, many of which got out of hand. One in particular stands out in my mind, as it was crashed by some dudes with a megaphone who came in and were breakdancing on the kitchen floor.

Now i'm an old fuddyduddy and no longer throw parties. I just ride around town instead.

So flash forward to this past friday. I was heading up to Jane's on the lake front path at rush hour. Just north of the yatch club (where I made my Weather Channel debut earlier this year!) I saw these 3 dudes pulled over with full panniers and racing jerseys on. Whatever. But what REALLY caught my eye was that one of them had a MAINE license plate spanned between his panniers. WHAT? I never run into Mainers out here. So I actually broke stride and turned around (I don't do that.) to see what's up. One of the dudes had taken off so I whipped around again and caught him on a hill and we chatted.

Turns out they're touring cross country. They started in Maine and had come like 1600 miles so far. I was impressed and bid him and his traveling mates good luck and took off.

Neat! I thought. So when I got to Jane's I mentioned it to her.

I buzzed around all weekend and rode like 130 miles. It was so nice out! Then on Sunday Jane tells me she got a text from this girl Mel saying that she had 3 dudes staying with her. They were cyclists. Jane instantly asked if they were from Maine. Mel was like "how did you know!"

So push come to shove, the randoms on the bike path were actually looking for my friend Mel's house. And as it turns out she can't host them for Sunday night. So of course they could stay with me!

Mike
Chuck
Jamie

She rides them down and we all get talking about how WEIRD it was that I had already bumped into them. Chicago's not small! We get talking after Mel leaves and we soon discover that 2 of them used to live in Boston when i did as well. We start talking about parties, and mission hill.... and about parties.... and about how one of ours got crashed by megaphones....

commence the screaming and freaking out. 2 of the dudes who crashed our party 5 years and 1100 miles ago were in my living room. What!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, these dudes are so, so, so awesome. 2 of them are moving to PORTLAND, OR. If you're on their route, you should host them!

They wrote about me in their trip blog and took up 2 pages talking about how awesome i am.

I wish I had more time with them. Cool ass dudes. When I am less lazy I'll take pics off my phone.

I forgot to tell you guys about Tim.

So I show Tim and his hunky friend the two 2-bedroom apartments last Wednesday. It sounds like they're leaning towards taking one of them fairly seriously. We joke around and have a good time, then it's time for them to go. I shake hands with the hunk and then go in to shake hands with Tim, who happens to be putting on a shoe and leaning on the doorway. So as our hands go in towards eachother he looks down at his shoe and I look down at my own footing (there's a raised platform there) and our hands miss eachother and we brush the back of our hands instead. Tim goes "OH WIFF!!!!!" and I instantly crack up. He kept making comments like "OH MAN that was embarrassing" and "are we dating?!?!" I laughed about it falling asleep that night and then at various times while waking up and flipping over.

I haven't heard from them since. Frown.

I was in HUD's office today at 77 W. Jackson and they referred me to some phone numbers (oh good! More useless numbers to call! That's WHY I went in person...)
Anyway, one of the numbers they gave me was FOR A PIE SHOP. I know why I can't ever bring myself to TRY things. I always get the run around, get frustrated, and quit. Always.

Sent 37 minutes ago
You Clearly Rock!!

Because those fingers of yours have been on a real roll with all of the super detailed, funny, tip givin' and informative reviews you've been writing lately! Seriously, your reviews have been some of the best we've read from the Chicago area and that's why we come to your inbox today, to make ya an offer ya can't refuse. Well we guess you can, but where's the fun in that!! So here goes...
We'd officially like to invite you to join the Yelp Chicago Elite Squad 2007!

*insert crowd roar here*

That's right, we think you have exactly what it takes to be a part of the Chicago crew blah blah blah blah for 2 more paragraphs....

More importantly, we want you to keep telling your friends about Yelp and encourage them to invite their friends as well. It's the more the merrier theory and as we all know, the more people yelping, the more useful and fun the site becomes. It's all about word of mouth, or mouse, as the case may be! ;)

I'm obsessed with Mistah F.A.B. "Ghost Ride It" - THIZZ STREET EDIT

Have you seen this? This video clip gave me daymares and is so uncomfortable I audibly moan and hide from it.

fucking winter.

So I reset my channels because I didn't understand when I first set them up that I did indeed need 4 channel 9s. So I suddenly have this great channel, #9.2, called "THETUBE" that shows music videos 24/7 and its great things that you will NEVER see on MTV or that shit. The Cars and Gnarls Barkley and REM and Joss Stone and the Ramones and live clips and hhhhhhhot.

Does anyone else have this? So good.

Coming soon is also a "Ion Life" channel, that for now just shows a commercial clip for the channel, 15 seconds long that loops 24 hours a day.

Say channel again.

Channel.

ok no but really. Blue sky. Right.... THERE.

So before you go thinking I'm some floozy, my phone bill was like that because of the phone interviews/recruiters/apartment potentials/fart et cetera I've been dealing with.

I need to surround myself with positive people/influences/things. I'm trying so hard to stay positive here. This is so important.

I walked over a couple of these this week. Yay Pilsen.

Don't call me. Don't text.

I somehow have managed to rack up a $111 phone bill. On top of things I don't need right now, I don't need this.

880 minutes used out of my 450 available.
250 texts used out of my 200 available.

Billing cycle starts over on the 18th. So don't call me until then.

this is what it smells like, when doves fry

up like a... light... at 4:11 am today. I can't wait to be in a schedule again.

Do you know how much better the overnight news is? Or how much more fun the early morning news people have? Why is this!? This one guy this morning had me cracking up and then when it was showing the contact info, it showed his show has a MYSPACE PAGE.

http://myspace.com/barelytoday

So it's storming out right now and I'm sitting in Panera. I came here with my computer on my back at 6:30AM before the sun rose. You couldn't even see the Sears Tower from the end of my street- the snow was blowing sideways. I wore my paddington coat which had a receipt in the pocket from 2/9/06. That was the last time I wore this coat. Almost a year ago.

Creepy.

I haven't gotten any "funny" votes yet. Hosers.

So I went and actually JOINED Yelp instead of just browsing it to find new places/read reviews.

And I just applied to become one of their "elite" as well so let's see if that happens.

Oh, and by the way... When that monster of a little girl BIANCA was leaving yesterday, she had reached over into the heater closet and said WHATS THIS DO!!!!! about a switch. I said "Don't touch that. It shuts the heating system off and we'll all freeze to death." I put this out of my mind. Today I came in and it was 51 in here and I spent a good long time trying to figure out what the frig was wrong with the heater/why it wasn't responding to me/what was wrong with it.

Better believe that fucking snitface flipped the switch! If I hadn't come here today and the pipes froze and burst all because of that brat, I would have been out for blood. Oh my god. Worst.

I mean seriously, what kind of a kid just flips switches on equipment? I knew that was fucking wrong when I was a fetus.

Kick his ass, sassafrass!

I bought Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle last night because I needed some material thing to fill a bored void, and I know what a fan of this Diana is. It was funny! Diana is of course, staying on my list of wives.

This is an icicle stalagmite that is forming underneath a PVC spout thing of some type sticking out of my building. It is getting taller by the day. And now that it is over 2 feet tall I thought I'd keep my eye on it and document it every now and then.

How phallic.

See those metal stairs? They lead up to a metal grate catwalk thing which is how I get into my apartment (the street's in the distance).
Since it is blocked by these stairs at the back end, and by the sidewalk at the front end, as many people have pointed out, if I drop my keys getting in and they fall through the grate, I'm skrewed!!! ahaha.

On the way upside, I never have to worry about shoveling. And I'm not klutsey.

We're supposed to get 3-6 inches soon >:(

Disease, public speaking, automotive failure — they take it all in stride, thanks to the steadying power of spending night after night with a best-loved mate at their backs.

Comfort Zone
Tandem Cycle Pose is part of the Sun Sleeper family.

A Note about Mattress Care
Due to the pose's bouncy mount, the mattress of a typical Tandem Cyclist couple can wear unevenly unless it is both flipped and rotated at least once a week.
